Advivo Newsletter September 2026

A message from our Managing Partner,

September is here, and with Father’s Day just passed, I hope all the dads, grandads and father figures in our Advivo community had an enjoyable day with family and those closest to them. We have also taken the opportunity this month to share a few of the dads and grandads behind the Advivo team, which you can read more about below.

There is plenty happening in the business and tax landscape at the moment, and this month’s newsletter has a strong focus on looking ahead. The proposed Federal Budget changes continue to raise some important questions for business owners around tax planning, business structures, valuations and what the future value of your business may ultimately mean for you. These are areas where getting advice well before a transaction or major decision can make a significant difference.

We also took a look at the upcoming changes to card surcharging from 1 October. While the surcharge itself may be disappearing, the cost of accepting card payments is not, so businesses should be considering what this means for pricing, contracts, invoicing and cash flow.

I would also like to thank Kim Acworth from Acworth Recruitment for contributing to this month’s newsletter. Kim shares some practical insights into common hiring mistakes and how businesses can improve the recruitment process. Employing the right people is one of the most important decisions a growing business can make, and it is something that should always be considered as part of your broader business and financial planning.

As always, if anything in this month’s newsletter raises a question about your own business, please get in touch with the Advivo team.

Kind Regards,

Leon Stephan
Managing Partner

For businesses that currently recover card-processing costs through a separate surcharge, this is more than a change at the payment terminal. It may have implications for pricing, contracts, invoices, profit margins and cash flow.
