Brisbane Basket Brigade — Charity of the Month Recipient for November 2021
Brisbane Basket Brigade is a non-profit organisation that works with other local organisations to deliver food and gifts to disadvantaged families and the homeless during the Christmas season each year. Hundreds of volunteers assist with this effort, helping to buy food, wrap gifts, pack baskets and deliver these baskets to nominated families throughout Brisbane.
Last year, over 2,000 volunteers came together to help sort, wrap, pack and deliver Christmas Baskets for 1,530 households reaching over 4,700 recipients in need. In total, over 12,000 gifts were wrapped and over 3,700 shopping bags of food packed and distributed which equates to an estimated 30 tonnes of food and gifts. Roughly $500,000 of food and gifts was distributed, bringing smiles to the hearts and faces of thousands last Christmas.
