Beddown — Charity of the Month Recipient for September 2021
Beddown is an organisation that repurposes spaces that are commonly used and busy during the day but at night are left empty (such as parking lots) into pop-up accommodation for the homeless. They work with volunteers to set up beds in these spaces and create an welcoming and comfortable environment for their guests to get a good night’s rest.
Many of the homeless suffer from sleep deprivation due to the conditions of living on the streets. Sleep deprivation can lead to many physical and mental health conditions that often go unseen. By providing a safe, secure and comfortable place to get a good night’s rest, Beddown helps to restore health, dignity and respect for their guests.
