Happy New Year and welcome to 2018!
Best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2018 to all our clients and associates from all of us at Advivo.
2017 proved to be a busy and challenging year for us but not without its rewards as well and we understand it was the same for many of our clients. We have passed the half-way mark for the financial year, how have you gone so far? I have included below our business scorecard, rate yourself and see how you performed?
Does this mean you need to review and revise your budget? Do you want some help with this?
Many of us use the Christmas period as a time of reflection; on the year that has passed, what we did well and maybe not so well ……… do you need to make some changes? Do you need additional advice or support to identify and consider improvement options? We are here to help.
In reviewing the year that has passed I also note there are a number of significant pieces of legislations that are quite relevant to many of our clients that have been in the press but have not yet received royal assent, please follow the link to keep you abreast of these changes and their status.

Funding Options for Business Growth
Written by Chris Morris
“What’s the best way to fund our growth strategy?”
This is a question I’m often asked, and whilst there will always be some options that are better for you than others, the answer is never as straight forward as we’d like. In all cases, it depends on the strategy being implemented, the budget required and your forecasted timeline.
In short, there are many funding options available for small to medium businesses/enterprises (SMEs), including some ‘outside of the box’ solutions, which tend to be overlooked.
This article provides a brief insight as to options available for SMEs, along with pros and cons which will help decipher which is best suited for you. If you’re one who prefers to cut to the chase, we have a short-form guide available in the reference section of our website which will help narrow your focus to those that could work best for your particular circumstances. Estate planning Update
In December we advised that we had recognised the Christmas period was a high risk time and as such an appropriate time for reviewing your estate planning needs. Wow am I glad we initiated the contacts we did, when we did, in the initial batch of contacts we had 71% of people contacted who said they had no wills or that they were hopelessly out of date. ( One of those with no will was about to head off on an overseas holiday, fortunately we were able to rush though their wills and other documents before they got on the plane). Continue reading
Taking our community to the next level
Bringing in the new year encourages us to reflect on the year gone by and think about what we can do differently or better moving forward. After spending some time with our families over the break, the common feeling amongst Advivo’s partners and staff coming back to work this year was the need to do more for the community.
The partners have all participated in charitable work for a long time, whether it is joining the advisory board of a non-profit organisation, assisting local community sporting teams and events, or helping local animal shelters. Read more
Blockchain Technology – So what is all the hype really about?
Written by Trevor Holmes
By now many of us have heard of Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and may have come across the phrase ……. Blockchain. As the market capitalisation of Bitcoin sits at around $16 Billion, many people are asking questions about what these cryptocurrencies are but in actual fact, the most exciting element of Bitcoin is the evolution of what is known as blockchain technology, how blockchain is likely to impact on our daily lives and the many business opportunities that will evolve through blockchain technology. From our return to work on January 8 , Janen has been promoted to an Undergraduate Accountant role and will be working full time as she completes the final stages of her studies.
Janen is also working towards a financial planning qualification and will be super qualified to work with you and your businesses.
Janen’s progression is in tune with our values not only do we want to take your business to the next level but so too our staff and we cannot do this without continually investing in our staff and their development.
“I’m really thankful and humbled about this opportunity to progress my career as an accountant, working fulltime and studying fulltime is a challenge and requires a lot of hard work. Balancing work, studies and still enjoying life wouldn’t be possible without the support of my family, friends and work.”
Janen has recently returned from a holiday in the Philippines where she was lucky enough to survive not one, but two typhoons that ripped through the area she was staying and confirms it was one of the most exciting holidays she has been on, one for the memory bank!
We would like to congratulate Janen for reaching this milestone, stay tuned for graduation photos to follow!
